This Week at the Cobb Energy Centre- August 19-25, 2016

Check out what’s been happening at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre this week:

RvF250This week we were excited that we got to host a show that promoted fun, laughter and positivity. Roman Atwood and Yousef Saleh Erakat ( aka Fousey ) are YouTubers that have skyrocketed in fame. Their vlogs show everything from pranks, to daily activities, and motivational talks. Their main audience are young adults and pre-teens. When talking to some of the audience that came to the show, we asked what about Roman and Fousey they liked so much. Some of the words that were used were ” They are fun”, “They always are happy”, “Their videos make me smile”. Some high praise from these tiny reviewers. During the show the YouTubers challenge each other to silly contests, for example boxing and rap battles. In between all the laughter Roman and Fousey take the time to really connect with their young audience. They speak about loving yourself and finding outlets for your creativity and passions. We held a contest for the audience, allowing one guest from #TeamRoman and one from #TeamRoman , to win signed posters from the YouTubers. Our winners were Colby and Aiden for #TeamRoman and Laila and Sydney for #TeamFousey. Atlanta was Roman and Fousey’s last tour stop in the US and we were happy to have had them!

IMG_0867Also this week we were proud that we got to host the Cobb County Police S.W.A.T team for their training. They were here for a few days and trained long hours. We want to thank them for choosing the centre for their training and more importantly thank them for all their service!

New Music:

AMOS-LEE16_760ATwo artists that will be performing on our stage this year just released new albums. Amos Lee, who will be performing on our stage September 23rd, 2016, just released his new album “Spirit”. It has gotten great reviews and we can’t wait to see him this September. Amos comments on  his new single, “I wrote the verse and chorus of “Vaporize” one day. Then put it on the shelf for a while until I heard “Studio” by ScHoolboy Q, which made me wanted to find a way to do something with that flavor in a room with a drummer and bass player. Add to it live strings moods, and an incredible rhythm section, and you get the core of “Vaporize.”Get your tickets before they are sold out!

Another talented artist, acclaimed electronic violinist Lindsey Stirling, also just released a new album. Her newLindseyStirling_250 album is called “Brave Enough” and she will be performing on our stage on October 26, 2016.  “Brave Enough” follows Lindsey’s widely praised sophomore release “Shatter Me,” which has sold over a quarter million copies in the US, debuted at #2 on Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart, #2 on the Billboard Year End Dance Electronic Album Chart, #1 on the iTunes Album Chart and spent an impressive 21 weeks straight at the #1 spot on the Billboard Classical Album Chart according to Neilson. Lindsey’s self-titled debut album released in September of 2012 and was recently certified Gold by the RIAA. Grab your tickets for October’s show, they are almost gone!
