INSPIRING STUDENTS THROUGHOUT THE METRO REGION…
"…The purpose of arts education is not to create more artists. It's not to create more audiences. The purpose of arts education is to create a complete human being who can lead a productive life in a free society. You can’t do that just through academics and athletics. There are certain things you can only learn in stories, in songs, that you can only see in images. When you take this out of a kid’s education, you impoverish their possibilities both individually and socially."
-Dana Gioia, Chairman of the National Endowment For The Arts
Welcome to the second year of ARTSBRIDGE, a collection of stimulating programs that are responsive to the needs of today's classrooms and that connect students to their highest potential. The program's inaugural season in 2007-2008 served more than 38,800 students and teachers from 12 different school districts. Teacher comments have rated the ARTSBRDIGE program as outstanding in its content, organizational logistics, and most importantly…it's power to inspire students. For public schools working with students from low-income communities and tight school budgets, we have special subsidy programs that have allowed us to turn no one away due to an inability to pay.
The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre Foundation is proud to offer educators quality programming that can be leveraged to inspire their students. Drawing on quality local and national talent, the Centre is collaborating in 2008-2009 with The Atlanta Opera, Atlanta Ballet, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, ARTSNOW/Creating Pride, The Georgia Ballet, ArtsPower, TheatreworksUSA, and Young Audiences Woodruff Arts Center. Together we are working with leaders from the educational community to provide you with a valuable, educational tool. If you are a first-time participant, we warmly welcome you. For our returning friends…thank you for making the program such a success.
