Count Basie’s music, characterized by a blues-steeped jumping beat and contrapuntal piano accents, was a showcase for top-singers. This evening, we honor two great singers whose performances with the Count reached legendary proportions. Joe Williams, the blues legend will be presented by DownBeat poll winner Kevin Mahogany. Janis Siegel, as a member of the eight-time Grammy winning group—Manhattan Transfer, will pay homage to the great jazz vocalist Ella Fitzgerald. To top off this momentous evening, we will present the legendary Count Basie Orchestra. Get ready to swing the night away!

Brazilian Music is based on its indigenous Indian, African and European roots. The rhythms were refined in the 1950’s by composers João Gilberto, Antônio Carlos Jobim, and Dori Caymmi. The new sound combined samba and jazz to form a romantic mixture called Bossa Nova. These Brazilian stars define the genre. Sergio Mendes is a multi-Grammy winner and undisputed master of Pop Brazilian Jazz. Sergio grew up in Brazil but it was in the U.S. where he fused his Brazilian roots with American jazz and R&B to create a new sound that brought his unique musical blend to the world! Eliane Elias is a pianist, singer, composer, DownBeat Award Winner, and multi-Grammy Award nominee. Eliane Elias is known for her distinctive musical style which blends her Brazilians roots, her sensuous, alluring voice with her impressive instrumental piano jazz! Join us as we turn Atlanta into Rio!

Dave Koz and Friends Christmas Tour 2013 is an uplifting, high-energy show the whole family will love. Get into the holiday spirit as some of music's biggest names jam on fresh, lively arrangements of seasonal favorites, led by multi-GRAMMY® nominee and saxophonist extraordinaire Dave Koz. Joining Dave this year are Japanese born pianist/composer/producer Keiko Matsui, who has shared the stage with everyone from Stevie Wonder to Miles Davis; world-renowned singer Oleta Adams, who first came to prominence when Tears for Fears asked her to appear on their The Seeds of Love album and who has released eight acclaimed CDs of her own, crossing effortlessly between R&B, Jazz, Popular and Gospel music, and Jonathan Butler, who was the first black artist played on white stations in his native South Africa and has since earned accolades in the R&B, contemporary jazz and gospel fields. Together they'll be making spirits bright as this cherished holiday tradition marks its 16th anniversary.

The Dirty Dozen Brass Band incorporates Funk and Bebop into the traditional New Orleans style, extending the music from the Big Easy into the 21st century. Multi-Grammy winner Aaron Neville has moved seamlessly back and forth between solo work and his role in the first family of New Orleans music, the Neville Brothers. Come join us for a 40-year celebration of this master’s career. This special event will bring New Orleans to Atlanta!

Ray Charles, a Georgia native, is an American treasure. He transcended racism, cultural upheavals, and spread his music based on gospel, blues, jazz and country around the world. Ray won every major award from the Georgia Music Hall of Fame to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, from the Kennedy Honors to a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and induction into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame. We celebrate Ray’s music with an all-star cast of award winning performers.
Take 6, ten-time-Grammy winning vocal sensation. Their exciting performances defy categorization, and has led to collaborations with Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Queen Latifah, and Ray Charles. Clint Holmes, Las Vegas based vocal star, has been selling out concert halls around the world. His exciting, soulful stylings will bring magic to this exciting evening. Nnenna Freelon, six-time-Grammy nominee and DownBeat Vocalist of the Year, will add her soulful vocal style to the Ray mix. Kirk Whalum, Grammy Award Winner, hails from Memphis, TN. Kirk’s big, rich tenor sound is unmistakably his. Shelly Berg, music director and Dean of the University Of Miami Frost School Of Music, is an award-winning pianist.
